How TrustBirr works

This is the help your cashiers and managers can open from the app. It covers verification, the banks we talk to, and how to reach a person.

How a check works

A cashier photographs the receipt, or scans the QR on it. The photo is sent to TrustBirr, which reads the bank, the reference, the amount and the time, then asks the bank whether the transfer exists.

TrustBirr then compares the amount and destination against what the customer is showing. The result is one of three verdicts — verified, suspicious, or could not verify — large enough to read at arm's length.

Every check is logged automatically. Nobody has to remember to save it.

What the three verdicts mean

Verified

The amount and destination match what the bank has, the destination is one of the accounts you saved, and this reference has not already been accepted. If the money moved more than ten minutes ago you will still see Verified, plus how long ago it was sent — you decide whether to accept it.

Suspicious

Something does not match — a different amount, a different destination, or a receipt that was already accepted. Do not accept the payment on this receipt.

Not confirmed

The bank did not answer in time, this provider is not yet supported, you have not saved the accounts you get paid into, or the bank page did not name a destination. Nothing here says the receipt is fake. Ask the customer to wait, or accept at your own risk.

If the connection drops

A check has to reach the bank, so it needs a network. If the phone is offline, the cashier sees an error — never a guessed green. Photograph again when the connection is back. There is no queue that finishes the check later by itself.

Who can see what

Cashiers scan receipts and see the ones they scanned themselves. Branch managers see their own branch. Owners see every branch, every staff member, and the reports.

A cashier cannot change the business, the staff list, or the bank accounts. Those stay with the owner.

Banks and wallets we check against

Each provider is a separate module, so one bank changing its pages never takes the others down. If a check comes back unverifiable, it is usually that bank's page, not your phone.
